Preparation
Drawn before 10:00, because the hormone reference ranges are built on morning blood.
- Drink enough water in the hour before the draw, it makes the draw easier.
- No hard training in the 48 hours before, it distorts creatine kinase, hs-CRP and liver values.
- Take your medication as usual, unless agreed otherwise.
- A chair and a table is all you need. Everything else comes along.
How the draw works
A BIG-registered nurse comes to your address at the agreed time. The draw is an ordinary venipuncture from the arm and takes about ten minutes including preparation. Tubes go to the laboratory the same day. See the at-home page.
When you get results
Usually within 1 to 5 working days, by email. Specialist assays such as the omega-3 index can take up to 14 working days. Each value gets an explanation and is compared against both the lab reference and the stricter target range.

Do I need to fast for this package?
No.
You can eat normally. If we add individual markers that do require fasting, you hear that in advance.
What does this package cost in total?
€ 110 lab cost plus € 80 appointment fee.
Within 13 kilometres of Amsterdam that is the whole amount. Beyond that, 0.26 euro per kilometre applies. Ask for the exact total in advance.
Do I need a referral for this?
No.
You order and pay for it yourself. Preventive testing without a medical indication is not covered by basic insurance. See the costs page.
Can I add or remove markers?
Yes, a custom panel is possible.
